michael schmidt is head of the graphics department at ELK, one of the largest Danish
Internet-agencies. he does all his weird boxy stuff at virus one, runs KALIBER10000
with his friend toke, and generally likes anything
that's noisy, dirty or tattooed. or all of the above.

on design:
design is generally too intrusive. it affects us too much.
it makes us weep, it makes us vomit. it makes us throw caution to the wind,
throw money out the window, throw ourselves headfirst
into an orgy of consumer frenzy.
i guess that's what i really like about design.

on life:
life is quite good, but the cities are really what makes life worth living.
the straight lines, the boxlike structures,
the dirt & noise & smells & general sense of
hopelesness that just clings to your every pore
when you are hopelessly lost & everyone just sneers & looks the other way.
books are like that as well - if you read the right authors.
designers should read more books.
