I use Adobe Illustrator because I love the control of type and layout with that application. Adobe Photoshop to do all of the imaging and sometimes production. Macromedia Fireworks, the best optimization tool that I've come across. Keeps the colors and make the files really small. Love it. BBEdit, WebEdit, Dreamweaver, etc to do the coding. Flash for vector animations. Director for animations that comes from After Effects. I like my animations with textures. Because Flash can only do so much, I want to use this to cover the rest.
